L&T Infotech clarifies on power theft charge

L&T Infotech has denied the charge that it had indulged in power theft as accused by Mahavitaran, the power distribution arm of the Maharashtra government.

MUMBAI: L&T Infotech has denied the charge that it had indulged in power theft as accused by Mahavitaran, the power distribution arm of the Maharashtra government.

In a release issued here tonight, the company said it was constructing a new canteen facility within the existing campus at Mahape, Navi Mumbai. The contractor was provided with the power supply from the existing facility for which the bills were regularly paid.

The press note said that about a week ago, state electricity company officials approached the unit and stated that there was a differential rate of electricity for the construction purpose and submitted a separate bill of Rs 9,68,502 which was paid immediately.

The release said that the state electricity company has instructed it to apply for a separate power connection for the construction purpose and it has taken suitable action in this regard.
