Karnataka govt has ordered its power producers not to export power to other states as it was facing a severe deficit during peak hours.

NEW DELHI: Karnataka government has ordered its power producers not to export power to other states as it was facing a severe deficit during peak hours due to the summer season and grid congestion.

The government directed all the producers to operate and maintain their generating stations to supply all exportable generation to the state at Rs 5.50 per unit. Karnataka-based power producers were trading close to 450 mw of electricity on energy exchanges while the state has a deficit of over 1,000 mw, according to industry sources.
