Jindal Power, JSW Energy among power companies honoured for good performance
Government honoured private and public companies including Jindal Power, JSW Energy, Sterlite Grid, Powergrid Corp and NTPC for good performance.
A total of 34 awards were given in the fields of early completion of thermal and hydropower and transmission projects; performance of thermal, hydro and nuclear power stations; performance of distribution companies and rural distribution franchise; transmission system availability and environment management award scheme for coal-based thermal power stations.
Coal, Power and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal, who presented the awards, said these were only small steps towards achieving the target of 24x7 affordable and quality power and there were more challenging tasks ahead. State-owned NTPC’s five stations won awards for performance and efficiency.
“The company is committed to generate and provide reliable power at competitive prices in sustainable manner,” NTPC said in a statement.
Sterlite Power Grid Ventures, India’s largest private developer and operator of independent transmission systems, bagged silver shield for early completion of transmission projects for commissioning 765 kV Substation at Dhule in 17 months instead of the scheduled 36 months.
Vedanta Group’s power infrastructure arm, Sterlite Grid is the first private venture to achieve this feat in India’s power sector, the company said in a release.
