NEW DELHI: Jharkhand state electricity board has the highest outstanding dues to be paid to central power PSUs at Rs 485.03 crore, while Bihar has the lowest of Rs 3.73 crore.
This was disclosed by Minister of Power Sushilkumar Shinde in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
The total outstanding dues to be recovered stand at Rs 636.86 crore as on March 31.
"The outstanding dues of over 90 days have arisen due to temporary liquidity problem of SEBs or because of delay due to reconciliation," the minister said adding the PSUs are taking necessary steps to resolve the problem bilaterally.
The outstanding dues paid by SEBs of Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura to state-run companies such as NTPC, NHPC, PGCIL, NEEPCO and DVC in 2005-06 were Rs 995.47 crore.
While, SEBs of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura needed to pay outstanding dues to NEEPCO, states of Bihar and Jharkhand owed money to DVC, the minister said.
