TOKYO: Japan's premier energy research agency is helping India in planning the right energy mix for the country, Power Minister Piyush Goyal has said.

The Indian government and its premier think tank, Niti Ayog, are working with the Institute for Energy Economics of Japan ( IEEJ) to develop a possible energy mix for India in the years to come, Goyal said here on Thursday.

"We do not have such expertise in India. So we have asked IEEJ to develop a possible energy mix," he said.

A right energy mix is a balance between reliable conventional power plants and environment-friendly renewable resources.
