IL&FS to develop 5,000 MW energy storage park in Rajasthan

IL&FS will develop a 5,000 MW energy storage park in Rajasthan in a joint venture with the state government.

TOKYO: Infrastructure finance company IL&FS will develop 5,000-mw solar storage parks in Rajasthan in a joint venture with the state government.

"The work on first phase for 1,000-mw is underway. The benefits of energy storage to Rajasthan can be immense," IL&FS Energy's chief technical officer Rajsekhar Budhavarapu said in Tokyo on January 14.

The firm and the state government will develop the park in 50:50 joint venture, he said. The storage park will be developed in three phases. IL&FS will invite turnkey bids to set up the parks at multiple locations in Rajasthan.
