KOLKATA: Havells India on Friday launched a range of premium switches in the eastern region in markets such as West Bengal, Sikkim, Bhutan, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and the North-East. The company also plans to enter the rural market by enhancing its distribution network in over 1,200 towns with less than one lakh population over next few years. Havells also plans to double its production capacity at its Baddi plant in Himachal Pradesh where all switches and domestic switchgear products are manufactured including REO switches.

Currently Baddi plant manufactures five lakh SKUs a day which will be taken to one million SKUs a day within the next 3-6 months. The eastern region contributes close to 20% to Havell's overall revenues. "We have set a roadmap to expand our dealer network from 850 to 1200 in next two years," said Havells India associate director YK Gupta.
