Haryana to ensure better power supply

The Haryana government on Friday said it will take necessary steps to ensure improved availability of power in the state, even as it admitted that the state is facing a power shortage.

HARYANA: The Haryana government on Friday said it will take necessary steps to ensure improved availability of power in the state, even as it admitted that the state is facing a power shortage.

"Like Haryana, many northern states are facing severe power shortage. However, we are committed to generate more power and will ensure that people do not face any inconvenience," state Power Minister Venod Sharma told reporters here.

The government is also taking steps to ensure better power supply to farmers in view of the forthcoming sowing season, he said.

The Centre has given its approval to the nuclear power generation site in Fatehabad and the state is taking steps to purchase power from other states to meet the power shortage, he said.
