Haryana encourages use of unconventional sources of energy
The Haryana government would provide subsidy to those who install solar water heaters in their houses.
A spokesman of the Renewable Energy Department said that under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs 5,000 for 100 litres and Rs 10,000 for 200 litres would be given to those who opt to install these systems.
He said another scheme had been initiated for providing full financial assistance for installation of solar water heating systems in non-profit registered social institutions such as orphanages, old age homes, working women's hostels, juvenile homes and creches.
A special project for installation of such solar systems, SPV street lighting systems, solar cookers in government buildings has been initiated, entailing a cost of about Rs 1.43 crore.
Awards have been instituted to provide incentives to gram panchayats for promotion of Renewable energy programmes in their villages. Further, a Rajiv Gandhi State Level Renewable Energy Education Park was also set up at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore in Gurgaon.
