Haryana announces cheaper power for industry
Taking a cue from Punjab, neighbouring Haryana today announced to provide concession of one rupee in electricity tariff to the industrial sector in the state.
Taking a cue from Punjab, neighbouring Haryana today announced to provide concession of one rupee in electricity tariff to the industrial sector in the state. The Haryana industries, skill development and industrial training minister Vipul Goel today announced the concession while maintain that the domestic consumers have already been provided concession of one rupee in the electricity tariff.
The decision by Haryana comes at a time when neighbouring Punjab had also announced to provide power at uniform rate of Rs 5 per unit to industry.
Both states rely on thermal power and are already footing substantial subsidy for power supply to agriculture sector.
While the farmers in Haryana pay a flat rate of paise 12 per unit for electricity consumption in tube wells for irrigation, their counterparts get it free of cost in Punjab. The consumption of subsidized power in agriculture sector is more than other major category including industry or domestic consumers.
