GVK proposes Punjab to triple Goindwal Power Plant capacity

The offer was made by GVK Group Chairman GVK Reddy, who called on the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal here today, an official spokesman said.
Reddy offered to setup two units of 660 MW each totalling a combined capacity of 1860 MW of all the four units.
GVK Chairman said the work on existing two units of 270 MW each of the Goindwal Project is going ahead of schedule. The project has achieved financial closure and construction activity is in full swing.
He said that GVK group is confident to start generating power from this plant much ahead of the scheduled timeline of December 2011.
The main contractors of the project namely BHEL and Punj Lloyd have mobilised all the resources and erection of machinery of the project is going on in full swing, Reddy added.
