Gurdeep Singh takes over as CMD of NTPC

Gurdeep Singh has taken over the charge of Chairman and Managing Director of the state-run power generator NTPC with effect from today.



NEW DELHI: Gurdeep Singh has taken over the charge of Chairman and Managing Director of state-run power generator NTPC with effect from today.

Prior to this, he was the MD of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd.

"Gurdeep Singh...has taken over the charge of the post of the Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC, with effect from February 4, 2016, for a period of five years, until further orders, whichever is earlier," NTPC said in a BSE filing.

Singh, 51, is a Mechanical Engineer and has over 28 years of experience in the power sector. He started his career with NTPC and has worked at various levels both in domestic and multinational companies.

He has worked in different areas of the sector ranging from business development, projects and operations.

"The appointment of Singh is the Schedule 'A' scale of pay of Rs 80,000-Rs 1,25,000 and other perks and benefits as are generally applicable to the Chairman and Managing Director of the company, pending receipt of detailed terms and conditions of his appointment from Ministry of Power," the company said.
