Grid-connected rooftop solar system to come up in Kolkata

Under this initiative, there will be a major emphasis on capacity building programmes for key stakeholders to implement such schemes in the state.

KOLKATA: Together with the UK government, the West Bengal department of power and Kolkata Municipal Corporation are working on developing a grid-connected rooftop solar system.

"Over the next few months, we will be working with the West Bengal government and supporting Ashden India Renewable Energy Collective to help develop an affordable rooftop solar scheme through which Kolkatans will be able to reduce their power bills and greenhouse gas emission of the city," Scott Furssedonn-Wood, British Deputy High Commissioner to Eastern India said at a programme here today.

Under this initiative, there will be a major emphasis on capacity building programmes for key stakeholders to implement such schemes in the state, he said.
