NEW DELHI: The government on Friday said Central Public Sector Undertakings are yet to recover outstanding dues of Rs 636.80 crore from various state electricity boards and have received Rs 173.20 crore in 2006-07.
During 2006-07, Jharkhand had paid Rs 94.65 crore to Damodar Valley Corporation, while Manipur paid Rs 7.27 crore to Power Grid and Rs 54.37 crore to North Eastern Electric Power Corporation, Lok Sabha was informed on Friday.
The outstanding dues paid by SEBs of Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura to state-run companies such as NTPC, NHPC, PGCIL, NEEPCO and DVC in 2005-06 were Rs 995.47 crore, Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said.
While SEBs of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura needed to pay outstanding dues to NEEPCO, states of Bihar and Jharkhand owed money to DVC, Shinde said in a written reply.
The delay in payment arose due to temporary liquidity problems faced by the SEBs or because of delay in reconciliations, he said.
Arbitration proceedings for the disputed amount of Rs 55.61 crore were still underway, Shinde said.
"The CPSUs are taking necessary steps to resolve the problems bilaterally as and when they arise," he said.
Meanwhile, the minister said the Unscheduled Interchange rate was increased from Rs 5.70 per kWh to Rs 7.45 kWh at frequency below 49.02 Hz on April 30, 2007 to discourage overdrawing of power.
