KISHTWAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday said four to five more power projects have been identified for implementation in the state.

The survey of these projects has been completed, Azad said addressing a public meeting here, which was also addressed by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Power projects already under progress in the state, including the Baglihar hydroelectric power project, would be commissioned within three years, he said.

Once commissioned these projects would generate employment for local people, he added.

Azad recalled that the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, had laid the foundation of the Dulhasti power project 25 years ago and wanted to have it completed within 5 years.

However, the project was delayed due to the situation prevailing in the state at that time, he said, adding the concerted efforts of the central and state governments had ultimately ensured its completion.
