Essar Power expects to commission Paradip phase II next year

The 120 mw imported coal-based power project at Paradip has been set up as a captive power plant to meet the requirements of Essar India’s plant in Odisha.

NEW DELHI: Essar Power Ltd on Friday said it has completed the first phase (2x30 MW) of the 120-mw Paradip Power Plant in Odisha.

The phase-II units (2x30 mw) of the plant are under construction and are likely to be completed next year, Essar Power said in a statement, adding that the company’s installed capacity now stands at 4,705 mw.

The 120 mw imported coal-based power project at Paradip has been set up as a captive power plant to meet the requirements of Essar Steel India’s 12 million-tonne pellet plant in Odisha.

"Our focus is on completing all our under-construction projects in the quickest possible time and achieve our stated target of operationalising 6,100 mw so that we can fully leverage on efficiencies of scale," chief executive KVB Reddy said.
