Electricity grid restored; power generating stations start operations

Power supply has been restored to the nine northern states that went powerless since early hours of Monday, Power Grid Corp of India Ltd chairman and managing director R N Nayak told ET.

NEW DELHI: Power supply has been restored to the nine northern states that went powerless since early hours of Monday, Power Grid Corp of India Ltd chairman and managing director R N Nayak told ET.

"All the transmission lines are working now. Restoration from our side has been completely done. About 27,000-mw of power is now flowing in the grid. The coal-based power plants have to pick up generation now. We completed the restoration in record time," Nayak said. PGCIL owns and operates the grid.

A BSES spokesperson said power supply to entire Delhi resumed at around 1400 hrs on Monday.
