Delhi to set up 2000 MW power plant in Chhattisgarh
Plagued with a severe power crisis, the Delhi government wants to set up a power plant in Chhattisgarh with an investment of Rs 8000 crore considering its rich coal deposit, official sources told media here.
RAIPUR: A high-level delegation of Delhi government on Thursday visited the Naila area of Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh to finalise plan for setting up a 2000-MW power plant, which will meet the capital's power requirement and also supply additional power during the Commonwealth Games 2010.

Delegation led by Delhi's Power Minister Harun Yusuf visited Godhna village of Nawagarh area of Janjgir-Champa district, located close to Mahanadi river, to set up the coal based power plant, Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board sources said here.
The Delhi government's power plant will not only meet its power requirement but also, at the time of Commonwealth Games 2010, supply additional power to Delhi, the sources said.
The Delhi power Minister was accompanied by his Principal Secretary (Power) Rakesh Mehta and CSEB member (Generation) Shiv Kumar Chaturvedi, the sources said.
