Stepping in to prevent any move to hike power tariff, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday slammed the city’s power regulator.

NEW DELHI: Stepping in to prevent any move to hike power tariff, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday slammed the city’s power regulator for sending an advice to the government saying discoms were losing money even as a related matter was pending in court by way of a PIL.

"We express our displeasure over this. Once we are seized of the matter, how can the commission go ahead like this? Why do they play a game of chess?’’ a bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Manmohan observed.

Additional solicitor general Parag Tripathi then said the new tariff structure would not be implemented without the court’s approval.
