Consumer Forum slaps fine of Rs 1 L on power department

GHAZIABAD: A Consumer Forum today slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on the Electricity Department here for sending bills to a farmer without providing power.

Acting on a complaint filed by Pritam Singh, the Forum found the department guilty and directed it to compensate him by paying Rs one lakh.

On December 20, 1991, Singh had applied for an electricity connection and had deposited the required amount.

However, the department started sending him bills without providing power connection, he said in his complaint.
