India's coal production from captive and commercial mines has crossed 100 million tonnes and the output in the ongoing financial year till November 8 was 100.08 million tonnes, up 33% on year, reports Our Bureau.

Total dispatch from captive and commercial coal mines during in the same period was 107.81 million tonnes up 34% on year.

The share of captive and commercial mines in India's total coal production has been steadily increasing, the coal ministry said on Saturday.


The coal ministry is optimistic about reaching a production target of more than 170 million tonnes from captive and commercial coal blocks in 2024-25.
