KOLKATA: Coal stocks in power plants have touched a high of 22 million tonnes according to data provided by the Central Electricity Authority. This brought down the number of plants with stocks enough for seven days to just eight against earlier numbers of more than 15.

Thermal power plants with stock capable of running the unit for just about four days have decline to four -- one the lowest in the recent past.

Plants that have less stocks are Parichha Thermal power station having stocks for just abut three days. Thus station has infrastructure bottleneck for unloading coal. The Anpara station, is however, suffering from zero stock. It does not have money to buy coal.

Wardha Warora Thermal power station has just about four days coal stock due to inadequate coal availability. Dr N Tata Rao TPS, Ramagundem S TPS, Simhadri TPS have less stocks due to less receipt of coal. Bellary TPS has coal for four days due to inadequate coal availability. D.P.L. TPS also has stock for six days.
