CIL subsidiary bags NTPC coal block consultancy project

CMPDI is into exploration and a host of other allied services. The company was floated to undertake coal exploration for Coal India subsidiaries.

KOLKATA: A Coal India subsidiary has bagged a contract ifor consultancy for detailed exploration of NTPC’s Mandakini-B block at an estimated value of Rs 52 crore.

The contract will also involve preparation of Geological Report. It has been bagged by Central Mines Planning & Design Institute – the exploration and consultancy arm of Coal India.

“This is the highest ever value for a single assignment awarded to CMPDI from outside Coal India subsidiaries within the country,” said CMPDI in a statement.

CMPDI is into exploration and a host of other allied services. The company was floated to undertake coal exploration for Coal India subsidiaries. It is also involved in exploring coal reserves on behalf of other companies.

At present, around 50% of its exploration capacity is inhouse while the company outsources the rest.
