The amount is due to Chhattisgarh State Power Trading Company Limited ( CSPTCL), a fixed commission based nodal agency of the Chhattisgarh government.
According to the audit carried out by Chhattisgarh's Accountant General (AG), Rs 90.49 crore was outstanding against CSPDCL, whose mandate is to purchase power from private generators and sell it on behalf of state government.
"Further observed that the company (CSPTCL) had not made any effective persuasion to recover the amount," the audit report accessed by RTI activist Ajay Dubey said.
It is pertinent to mention here that CSPDCL has obtained client membership of M/s Power Trading Corporation Ltd for trading on power exchange -- ' Indian Energy Exchange' ( IEX) separately -- and commenced its transactions from November 4, 2012.
When CSPTCL was informed about the audit finding, its management replied that CSPDCL is regularly followed to clear outstanding dues. It has also received Rs 17.5 crore from CSPDCL recently, they said.
"It is further stated that CSPDCL is facing a cash crunch, therefore, in spite of continuous efforts from the company, part of the dues remained to be received from CSPDCL," the audit report quoted the management as saying.
