Chavan says India to set up five new atomic reactors soon

NEW DELHI: Minister of State at the PMO, Prithviraj Chavan, disclosed on Thursday that five new atomic reactors are being set up in the country to enhance power production.
The sites have been chosen and the proposal will shortly go the Union Cabinet for approval, he added.
He also revealed that the Government has entered into civil nuclear power agreements with Russia, France and the United States of America.
Planning emphasis on the Indo-US nuclear deal, he said efforts to get nuclear fuel for the reactors is continuing.
An agreement in the same area is expected to be signed during Kazakhastan President Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to India.
Talking about terrorism in an interview to All India Radio, Chavan said, ending the menace is essential for global peace and stability.
He also expressed appreciation about US President Barack Obama's views on terrorism.
