BANGALORE: The Chattisgarh government has promised to provide 100 MW of energy to the power starved Karnataka to ease the crisis.
Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh yesterday called on Karnataka Power Minister K S Eswarappa and gave an assurance to this effect, sources in Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL) said.
Singh had informed Eswarappa that though his state was not in a position to supply 500 MW of energy, as sought by Karnataka, it could provide 100 MW of power, as Chattisgarh was also in demand of power, the sources said.
Singh, who was here yesterday, spoke to energy department officials of his state and asked them to make arrangements to supply 100 mw of power to Karnataka within two to three days, the sources said.
Karnataka, which is in the grip of power scarcity, has decided to resort to scheduled load shedding from July 21.
Eshwarappa earlier told reporters that he would be leading a delegation to the Centre to seek allotment of an additional 3,000 MW of power to the state.
