NEW DELHI: The Himachal Pradesh government on Monday asked the Centre to directly allocate its share of over 630 MW power to northern states like Delhi, Haryana and Punjab during the summer months.
Addressing a Chief Ministers' conference here on power issues, state Power Minister Vidya Stokes said the Centre should directly allocate power to needy states to avoid double transaction.
The state government gets 12 per cent free power from the projects of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd amounting to 632.4 MW.
Stokes said the state government has asked the Centre to allocate surplus power to needy states during April-October.
She also asked the Centre to sanction power schemes amounting to Rs 457.80 crore in the state under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana.
