Centre sanctions Rs 100 cr to AP to establish SCADA

Under the plan, SCADA would facilitate centralised data collection which enables to improve system stability, easy accessibility to each and every consumer, instantaneous collection of parameters like voltage, current, power.
Top officials of Ministry of Power informed Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy in the state Government, that this amount may be utilised towards procurement of 11 KV five way RMU (Ring Main Unit), three way RMU, FPI (Fault Passage Indicators), sectionalisers, auto reclosures and vacuum circuit brakers, an official release said.
R-APDRP, a flagship programme of Government of India, paves the way to strengthen the power sector by way of taking up of IT initiatives in urban areas for enhancing customer services.
The R-APDRP project is aimed at strengthening the distribution systems in all the towns by using latest IT initiatives such as meter data acquisition, energy audit, metering etc, besides setting up of SCADA and effective distribution management systems (DMS), it said.
