CAG ignored our submissions: Power minister Veerappa Moily

NEW DELHI: Power minister Veerappa Moily said the Comptroller and Auditor General ( CAG) ignored submissions made by his ministry while drafting audit report on ultra mega power projects (UMPP).

Moily said the concept of UMPP of such magnitude was tried for first time in 2006. Hence comparisons made in the report with smaller projects like DMRC was not proper.

"This is a draft report and a final view has to be taken by the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee," Moily said.

The CAG report questioned appointment of bid process consultant E&Y as ICRA submitted the lowest bid.

The report said bid documents were not vetted by department of legal affairs and the documents were altered several times.
