The 750 MW Bongaigaon Thermal Power Station of NTPC in Salakati in Bongaigaon is reeling under the labour shortage triggered by the ethnic violence of July-Aug.

GUWAHATI: The 750 MW Bongaigaon Thermal Power Station ( BTPS) of NTPC in Salakati in Bongaigaon district is reeling under the labour shortage triggered by the ethnic violence of July-August.

The review report of the project has stated that in July violence broke out in the Kokrajhar district (where Bongaigaon Power plant is situated). Due to this, curfew has been imposed on July 23.

Most of the workers fled from site, even local workers refused to turn up at site for work. This has stopped the work at Bongaigaon thermal power station.
