BSES, L&T tie-up to offer power leakage detectors

Reliance Infrastructure subsidiary BSES Yamuna Power Ltd on Tuesday said it has tied-up with Larsen & Toubro to provide electricity leakage detecting devices at discounted price to consumers.

NEW DELHI: Reliance Infrastructure subsidiary BSES Yamuna Power Ltd on Tuesday said it has tied-up with Larsen & Toubro to provide electricity leakage detecting devices at discounted price to consumers. Consumers with over five-kilowatt hour electricity load are required to install such devices at their premises as per Indian Electricity Rules.

The devices called earth leakage circuit breakers detect small earth leakages, automatically tripping and disconnecting electricity supply to the premises.

“BSES Yamuna Power Ltd has tied-up with Larsen & Toubro to bring its customers in East and Central Delhi a unique offer on earth leakage circuit breakers. The devices have an in-built miniature circuit breaker offering double protection to consumers against electricity related incidents,” an official statement said.

As per the offer, Larsen & Toubro would install the leakage detectors free of cost and BSES would debit the device cost in next electricity bill.

“Statutory requirement and the safety benefits of installing an earth leakage circuit breaker is commonplace in Europe and other developed countries. Even in Mumbai and Bengaluru, their installation,” BSES Yamuna Power Ltd chief executive officer Ramesh Narayanan said.
