So far, only three of the nine projects have been transferred to the successful developers. While UMPP at Mundra in Gujarat has been bagged by Tata Power, the ones at Sasan in Madhya Pradesh and Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh have been bagged by Reliance Power.
Dr V K Garg, CMD of Power Finance Ccorporation told reporters here today the "Request for Qualification" which is the first stage of bidding process, for the Tilaiya project has been completed and the corporation would issue what is called "Request For Process" by the end of May.
PFC has been designated as a nodal agency by the union government for facilitating development of Ultra Mega Power Projects.
Dr Garg said availability of water, land and fuel are the issues that are considered before going ahead with any project. State governments have to provide support for the development of UMPPs, he said.
