BHEL kick starts Kanti Bijlee Utpadan's thermal power unit in Bihar

BHEL's scope of work in the Muzaffarpur project includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning.

NEW DELHI: State-owned power equipment maker BHEL today said it has commissioned a thermal unit of KBUNL in Bihar.

"This is the first 195 MW unit to be commissioned by BHEL at the 2x195 MW Muzaffarpur thermal power station of Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Limited (KBUNL) in Bihar," the power equipment maker said in a statement.

KBUNL is a joint venture of NTPC and Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited.

BHEL's scope of work in the Muzaffarpur project includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of Steam Turbines, Generators and Boilers, along with associated Auxiliaries and Electricals, besides Controls and Instrumentation and Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs).

The second 195 MW unit is expected to be commissioned in the current financial year (2015-16).

Shares of Bhel were trading at Rs 240.90, up 1.56 per cent, on the BSE.
