BHEL JV with Karnataka Power to set up power plants

State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals, the engineering major, along with Karnataka Power Corporation will form a joint venture company for setting up three coal-based power plants in Karnataka.

MUMBAI: State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals, the engineering major, along with Karnataka Power Corporation will form a joint venture company for setting up three coal-based power plants in Karnataka.

The JV company will build, own and operate two 660/800 megawatt coal-based power plant at Yeramarus in Raichur and another 660/8OOMW power plant at Edlapur, also in Raichur, BHEL said in a statement to the exchanges.

Shares of BHEL on Wednesday gained 1.50% to close at Rs 1,379 on the BSE.
