BHEL bags ₹6,650 crore NTPC order to build 800-MW power unit in Odisha

State-run engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has announced that it has secured an order worth ₹6,650 crore from NTPC Ltd to set up an 800-megawatt (MW) unit at the Darlipali Supercritical Thermal Power Project (STPP) Stage-II in Sundargarh district, Odisha.

In a regulatory filing on Friday, BHEL said, “BHEL has received a notification of award from NTPC Ltd for 1x800 MW Darlipali STPP, Stage-II.”


The order will be executed on an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) basis and will encompass the design, engineering, supply of equipment, erection, commissioning, and civil works for the project.

According to the company’s disclosure, the total value of the contract exceeds ₹6,650 crore, excluding GST. The project is expected to be completed within 48 months from the date of the award notification.
