Mumbai: Ashwani Kumar has stepped down as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Suzlon Energy Ltd. He will be replaced by former group CEO and strategic advisor JP Chalasani with effect from April 5, 2023, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Chalasani who has over 40 years of experience in the power sector, served as group CEO at Suzlon from 2016 to 2020.

Chalasani was the chief executive and Managing Director of Punj Lloyd since January 2014.


Ashwani Kumar's resignation comes despite a two-fold increase in profit for Suzlon in the October-December quarter at Rs 78 crore.

But for the same quarter, its net revenue dropped by more than 9 per cent compared to last year.

The company's scrip closed at Rs 8.09, up 2.41% on the BSE Tuesday. Benchmark Sensex closed 0.19% higher.
