Areva T&D bags Rs 220 crore Sterlite contract to set up high voltage transmission substations in Maharashtra

NEW DELHI: Areva T&D India on Tuesday said it has bagged Rs 220 crore contract from Sterlite Technologies’ arm to set up high voltage transmission substations in Maharashtra.

Areva T&D India’ s transmission business, part of Alstom Grid, has been awarded a contract by Bhopal Dhule Transmission Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Sterlite Technologies Ltd for the construction of two 765 kV extra high voltage substations at Bhopal and Dhule, an official statement said.

Equipment for the substations would be delivered from Areva’s factories at Padappai, Pallavaram, Hosur and Noida.

“We value our relationship with Sterlite in the emerging build, own, operate and transfer business,” Areva T&D India managing director Rathin Basu said.

Sterlite Technologies whole time director Pravin Agarwal said, “Areva T&D India is awarded this project for its expertise and technology edge in delivering products and solutions for 765kV EHV. They have a strong track record of successes in this domain and we are confident of their delivery on this project.”
