Areva gets Rs 101 cr supply contract from BGR
AREVA Transmission & Distribution, has been awarded a Rs 101 crore contract by Chennai based BGR energy for supply of gas insulated switchgear to the Mettur Thermal Power Project Stage III of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
"We are the first company to manufacture GIS in India. We do it from our plant at Padappai. This will be a competitive advantage for us in terms of local value addition and service support plus reducing the lead time to delivery," said Areva T&D systems business unit executive vice president Michel Augonnet.
Power plants have, so far, been importing GIS for their requirements.
The order comprises design, engineering, manufacturing and supply of 15 bays of 420 kV and 8 bays of 230 kV gas insulated substations and 2 km of gas insulated lines, by December 2009.
