Alstom bags Rs 850 crore GVK order
Alstom has bagged a contract worth over €100 million (Rs 840 crore) by GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd to equip the 850 mw Ratle hydropower plant.
The contract includes supply of four turbines of 205 mw each, and one turbine of 30 mw. This contract is booked in the second quarter of the current fiscal year, an official statement said .
All equipment will be manufactured at Alstom's Vadodara facility in Gujarat, one of the company's largest hydro manufacturing hubs worldwide, it said.
Alstom India managing director and vice chairman Patrick Ledermann said, "Alstom India is committed to provide sustainable and emission-free solutions for the development of India'sclean power generation capacity. We are happy to be supporting the country's plan to further incorporate renewable energy into its energy mix."
Located on the Chenab River, Ratle is Alstom's first major project in the Kishtwar district. This is also currently the largest power project being set up in the state of Jammu & Kashmir , which faces an ever-increasing power demand, the statement said.
