Acme Solar wins bids for at least 446 MW in state tender

India's Acme Solar has won bids for at least 446 megawatts (MW) in the country's largest solar tender in Telangana, a company executive said.

NEW DELHI: Delhi-based ACME Group today said it has bagged 446 MW solar power projects from TSPDCL and TSNPDCL, which would come up at 18 different location in Telangana.

The two companies -- Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSPDCL) and Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TSNPDCL) -- are state-run firms and jointly floated tender.

"ACME Group has won 446 MW in Telangana solar tender and become India's largest solar power player with over 1 GW projects won through competitive bidding across country," the company said in a statement.

Out of a total 2,000 MW on offer, ACME Group won 446 MW at average tariff of Rs 5.84 per unit, it added.

Commenting on the development, ACME Group Founder & Chairman Manoj Upadhyay said, "After winning over 22 per cent of the total 2,000 MW i.e. 446 MW, we have emerged as the largest solar power player in distributed power generation."

"We have also achieved the distinction of becoming India's largest and only solar power developer with a portfolio of over 1,000 MW solar projects," he further said.

The strategy to have power generation close to consumption will help states too to optimally utilise their transmission and distribution networks, he added.
