ABB wins dlr 72 mln order from Statoil

ZURICH: Swiss engineering giant ABB said on Friday it had won a $72 million order from Norwegian oil company Statoil to build a power link for a new production platform in the North Sea.

ABB said the 98 km link will be the world's longest power link bringing alternating current to a floating installation and would get rid of the need for traditional generation solutions.

"The use of a subsea cable and power from a new power plant in Mogstad will avoid around 230,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year when operating at full capacity," the group said in a statement.
