ABB India opens solar inverter manufacturing factory

NEW DELHI: Power and automation technology firm ABB India today inaugurated a new solar inverter manufacturing facility in the city (Bengaluru) to double its output capacity.

The factory was inaugurated by Sanjeev Sharma, CEO and Managing Director, ABB India and Robert Itschner, Global Managing Director for Power Conversion, ABB Group, the company said in a press release.

The expansion follows earlier milestones achieved by ABB India last year - the first company to double the solar inverter installed base to 2GW in a span of five months.

ABB inverters manufactured at Nelamanagala, Bengaluru help power 40 per cent of the utility scale solar power generated in the country.

The Bengaluru site manufactures ABB's PVS800 central inverter series which have proven popular in India due to their ease of commissioning and reliable performance in even the harshest of climates.

ABB is the leading global supplier of solar PV inverters. Inverters form the heart of any solar installation.

ABB pioneered manufacturing of solar inverters in India with the state of art Bengaluru factory in 2012.

ABB central inverters range from 2 kW to 2 MW (2 kW to 50 kW are string inverters) and are optimised for residential rooftop usage as well as cost-efficient multi-megawatt power plants.
