BANGALORE: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Saturday that the work on the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation petrochemical complex at Mangalore would begin without delay.
"I could not land in Mangalore yesterday for laying the foundation stone of a major petrochemicals project. But it will be done soon and work will begin without delay," he said.
Singh was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a 10-laned "multi corridor" project that will connect Bangalore and Electronics City, the hub of IT industries, through a 9.5 km elevated four-lane highway with a six-lane road at the ground level.
The ceremony for laying the foundation stone for the Rs 4,900 crore petrochemicals complex at Permude on Mangalore outskirts was deferred due to rains, which forced the Prime Minister's aircraft to be diverted to Bangalore.
