Strike forces fresh halt to oil loading at UAE’s Fujairah port, underscoring risks to global supplies

Loadings were halted as a precaution while officials assessed damage from the latest strike, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg, asking not to be identified because they aren’t authorized to speak to the media. The suspension comes just days after the port resumed operations over the weekend following a drone strike that triggered a fire on Saturday.

The renewed disruption highlights the vulnerability of one of the Gulf’s most critical energy hubs. Fujairah is a major global center for the storage and shipment of crude and refined fuels, and has become increasingly important for both the UAE and international markets because it sits outside the Strait of Hormuz — a chokepoint that has been all-but-closed due to the ongoing war in the region.
The port lies at the end of a key pipeline linking it directly to the main oil fields in Abu Dhabi, allowing the UAE to move crude to global markets without sending tankers through the narrow strait.
The Fujairah media office could not immediately be reached for comment. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, which operates oil-loading facilities at the port, also did not respond to requests for comment.
The second suspension in just three days underscores the mounting risks to regional energy supplies as the conflict intensifies. Crude futures have surged above $100 a barrel amid fears that further attacks could disrupt vital export routes.
