A member of Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas Tapan Sen on Thursday demanded an inquiry into ongoing NTPC-RIL dispute on gas supply contract from the Government.
NEW DELHI : A member of Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas Tapan Sen on Thursday demanded an inquiry into ongoing NTPC-RIL dispute on gas supply contract from the Government.
In a letter written to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sen said, "Natural gas, which is a national resource, has to be used for the benefit of the nation and the Government, it appears, instead of intervening in national interest on behalf of NTPC is surprisingly acting in RIL's interest by its administrative action on this issue so far."
He further stated, "Such an approach of compromising national power generator's interest in favour of a contract company in the field is not at all consistent with your anxiety for meeting the fast growing power shortage in the country and achieving energy security."
He accused the government for allowing exploitation of country's natural resources for profiteering of the private explorer.
