SP wants CBI to probe KG capital expenditure

The Samajwadi Party (SP) has demanded a CBI inquiry into what it dubbed as a “scam” involving revision of capital expenditure to Rs 36,000 crore on commercialising natural gas from the KG basin by Reliance Industries.

NEW DELHI: The Samajwadi Party (SP) has demanded a CBI inquiry into what it dubbed as a “scam” involving revision of capital expenditure to Rs 36,000 crore on commercialising natural gas from the KG basin by Reliance Industries.

“The capital expenditure on KG basin was revised thrice from Rs 10,000 crore to Rs 36,000 crore. The government was duped to the extent of Rs 36,000 crore...This maha ghotala (big scam) should be investigated by the CBI and the CAG,” SP general secretary Amar Singh demanded during Zero Hour.

Mr Singh said that the Empowered Group of Ministers going into the pricing of KG gas, should take into account the reports of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet Secretary.
