RIL strikes gas in KG offshore basin well
The well (KGIII5-P1) is the second gas discovery in the reservoir. RIL is still evaluating the commercial viability of the discovery. Reliance recipe of creating wealth
This shallow water block, with an area of 1,100 square km, was awarded to RIL under the third round of NELP biding.
RIL holds 100% participating interest in this block. It was drilled in water depths of 151 metre and was drilled to the target depth of 3,500 metre, RIL said in a statement.
RIL encountered a ‘clastic reservoir’, an underground gas trap, with a hydrocarbon column of around 32 meters in Miocene section and 4 meters in Pliocene section, the release added.
The two pay zones, which measure the extent of hydrocarbon, were established through wire-line based technology called Reservoir Characterisation Imager (RCI). This discovery namely ‘Dhirubhai – 37’ has been notified to the government and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons.
