RIL objects judge's appointment in NTPC case

RIL, which is locked in a legal tussle with NTPC, on Wednesday raised objection to Justice Roshan Dalvi of the Bombay high Court hearing the matter as Dalvi owns NTPC shares.


MUMBAI : RIL, which is locked in a legal tussle with NTPC, on Wednesday raised objection to Justice Roshan Dalvi of the Bombay high Court hearing the matter as Dalvi owns NTPC shares.

Following this, Justice Dalvi expressed her willingness to withdraw from the case and referred the matter to the Chief Justice, various sources said.

The Chief Justice will now assign a new judge for the case.

The case pertains to a contract between RIL and NTPC, whereby RIL would be supplying 12 mmscmd of gas to NTPC for power generation.

While RIL contends that the contract is yet to be concluded, NTPC says that it has been and is binding on RIL.
