Reliance to use Criterion's catalysts in Jamnagar refinery

Reliance Industries has chosen Criterion Catalysts & Technologies' (CCT) catalysts for its upcoming 5,80,000 barrels a day refinery in Jamnagar.

MUMBAI : Reliance Industries has chosen Criterion Catalysts & Technologies' (CCT) catalysts for its upcoming 5,80,000 barrels a day refinery in Jamnagar.

CCT is an affiliate of Shell Global Solutions (SGS). Catalysts are used to break down the heavy part of crude oil into lighter fractions like gasoline and hydroprocessing catalysts.

"SGS has been providing technical support at Jamnagar refinery since 1999, shortly before its commissioning and start-up phase. This deal represents a deepening of that relationship," company's Vice-President (sales, marketing and consultancy) Wayne Hutchinson said in a company release.

Reliance Industries' export-oriented refinery, which is expected to be operational this year, is adjacent to its existing refinery having a capacity of 6,50,000 barrels per day.
