Reliance Industries appoints former Gujarat bureaucrat Maheswar Sahu as independent director

With Sahu’s appointment, the board of RIL now has 14 members that include eight independent directors.

MUMBAI: "Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries has appointed Maheswar Sahu, former additional chief secretary (industries and mining) with the Government of Gujarat, as an independent director on the board, the energy conglomerate said Thursday.

With Sahu’s appointment, the board of RIL now has 14 members that include eight independent directors.

Sahu, a 1980 batch Gujarat cadre IAS, held important positions in Gujarat under former Chief Minister of the state and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has also served 10 years with the central government in industry and infrastructure and three years with United Nations Organizations.

“We are delighted to have Maheswar Sahu join our Board. We look forward to his contributions in strengthening Reliance’s journey of transformation and growth,” said Adil Zainulbhai, chairman of the board’s human resources, nomination and remuneration committee at RIL.
